There are few cities as iconic as Washington DC. As the capital of the nation, the name itself speaks to the richness of our long heritage of democratic leadership. Weddings set in this historic city can tie into that rich sense of patriotic history with Vintage Washington DC letterpress wedding invitations. The vintage style letterpressed images of the Presidential monuments create a stately landscape of architectural elegance. The vintage Washington DC map printed on the interior envelope liner creates a double emphasis of the theme.
Color Can Change Everything
The understated charcoal gray used in this example adds to the vintage feel of this design. A simple change to the ink color of this print can totally transform the look of these vintage Washington DC wedding invitations. Sharp black on bright white would provide a classic but modern look, while brighter colors would connect with the energetic vibe of Washington DC. In the example above we’ve added a splash of color to the stationery set by printing the reception card on a contrasting stationery color. Color accents can be made with ink choices, stationery colors or subtly with color added to the edges of stationery pieces.
Fonts Make a Statement
Take note of the font used on the vintage DC wedding invitations above. The font is simple in form, but increasing the size and bolding the lettering provides prominence for the names of the bride and groom. Just like color, it is important to choose a font that fits with the style of your event. These choices can be greatly simplified when working with an experienced print designer who can make font and color recommendations based on a short consultation with the bride and groom.
The Importance of Paper
The paper you choose for your Washington DC wedding invitations can make a big difference on the final look that is achieved when the design and font type is applied. It is important to see how the fonts and colors you’ve chosen will appear on various types of letterpress paper. Does the paper truly complement the colors and font types? Should it be smoother or should it have more texture? What will it feel like in the hands of your guests when they open it and read it? Each of these individual choices combine together to create wedding invitations that artistically represent the lifetime commitment that will be honored on your wedding day.

Vintage Border Letterpress Invitations

Traditional Vintage Elegance
The vintage border on these letterpress invitations creates an antique feel and a beautiful, delicate look. The design itself creates the perfect frame for the wedding invitation text inside. Vintage flourishes and flowers are always a great look for an elegant wedding invitation.
Multiple themes
The design also has both a touch of Spanish, Beaux Arts, as well as Old Hollywood flair, making it perfect for many occasions including a Southwest wedding, Victorian wedding, Southern California wedding, or generally vintage theme wedding. For the pictured invitations the use of wine and sage colors was the perfect look for this wine country wedding.
Letterpress touches
What better way to print your vintage wedding invitation than with vintage letterpress printing? The letterpress texture in the thick cotton paper highlights the delicate flourishes and lines, making it clear this is a quality invitation on quality paper. For this set a letterpress reply card postcard with a picture of the winery venue also adds a vintage monochrome touch. As a final piece, nothing is more fun than a wedding weekend events card with cute icons to build up excitement for the wedding!

Rome Luxury Wedding Invitations
- Colors & text your choice
- Customizable
- 4-ply museum board
- Matching pieces available
- Minimum order quantity 50
Rome luxury wedding
When your wedding is at Santi Giovanni e Paolo in Rome, just blocks from the Colosseum, it calls for invitations that make a grand entrance! When Jeanette and Manny came to us for a custom letterpress invitation design, we knew it had to be something as impressive as their luxury setting. The end result was an elaborate monogram with laurel wreath and Roman type to give an ancient Roman flavor, paired with a very modern blind debossed pattern background.
The thickest paper
For paper we chose the thickest invitation paper around, very substantial 4-ply museum board. The debossed pattern can really make a deep impression on this quality paper (normally used for fine museum conservation). The thick paper also makes for a dramatically thick edge to the invitation, the better to highlight the gold painted edges.
Copper foil stamping
And last but not least is the copper foil stamping reminiscent of a bronze Roman statue. A shining copper finish to a fabulous announcement of the wedding no-one would want to miss!
